Prepare for the November 2025 Election - Understand WRITE-IN Candidates

In order to vote in the Chester Township Trustee race happening on the November 4, 2025 ballot, you must be registered to vote with the Geauga County Board of Elections. Register to vote by Monday October 6, 2025. Check your registration status here.

This year (November 2025) our Chester Township ballot is a bit unique. The ballot will have spaces for write-in candidates. You can vote for the person on the ballot, or write in qualified write in candidates. If you write in a candidate, be sure to both write in the name and fill in the bubble. Make sure to vote for no more than 2 candidates and WRITE-IN "Brandon Davis" on one of the lines and also fill in the bubble corresponding to that line. An example of this for the upcoming Chester Township Trustee race is below. You may vote for up to 2 candidates, which includes the ability to vote for two write-in candidates.

Early voting starts October 7, 2025, and election day polls open at 6:30a.m. and remain open until 7:30p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

What is a write in candidate: A write-in candidate is a person seeking elected office whose name is not printed on the ballot. The candidate must file a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate not later than 4 p.m. of the 72nd day before the primary or general election. The board may only tally the votes of a write-in candidate who filed a valid declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate. A write-in candidate must meet all of the eligibility requirements of the office. The Secretary of State prescribes the form of the declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate. (Source)
